Rockingham Estate Play Assoc

Location: London SE1
Client: The London Borough of Southwark
Architect: Robert Loader Associates

With the use of various contrasting materials and finishes, this small annexe typifies the modern approach to building. Poor ground conditions necessitated the requirement for piling and reinforced ground beams.

The timber framed building has a face brickwork exterior alongside Swedish pine windows, galvanised steel cills and reveals, open timber soffit and glazed automatic sliding doors. Attention to detail was paramount and the fine finishes were achieved through close co-ordination between the architect, the client and ourselves.

Upminster Library

Location: Upminster, Essex
Client: London Borough of Havering
Architect: Mouchel Parkman

The refurbishment of Upminster Library transformed a dowdy 1970’s built concrete frame building into a modern, user friendly environment for the community. The refurbishment provided disabled access facilities on two levels, curtain walling, new roof coverings and remodelling of the library layout.

A completely new heating and ventilation system, together with state of the art lighting and communications leaves the newly refurbished library very much in the 21st century.

Writtle New Build

Location: Writtle, Essex
Architect: David Butt Associates

This beautiful luxury 4 bedroom chalet bungalow with detached garage, nestling in the shadow of a great horse chestnut tree, was completed to the utmost satisfaction of the client.

Indeed, it impressed the building inspector sufficiently for him to write commending Cityline’s high standard of finish to the architect (Testimonials).

Club House

Location: Waltham Abbey, Essex
Client: Waltham Abbey Town Council
Architect: Curtis Taunton Partnership

With the success of a lottery funding application, Waltham Abbey Town Council has rejuvenated an area of local waste ground, providing sports amenities for the local community. Part of this scheme was the erection of a single story community centre and social club.

The landfill site demanded piled foundations with a reinforced suspended ground slab incorporating a methane barrier and ventilation. Internal fit out included the installation of a hardwood bar and servery, anti vandal electric window shutters and the usual quality finishes. Cityline are pleased to have worked with their local Council on this and many other projects.

Marie Stopes Clinic

Location: Essex
Client: Marie Stopes International
Architect: Woodward Ambrose Architects

Marie Stopes Clinic nestles in the leafy suburbs of Buckhurst Hill, Essex. The refurbishment of the clinics 3rd floor was carried out in conjunction with the requirement for disabled access in accordance with part M of the DDA.

This fine Victorian building was blighted by a more recent addition of a timber glazed porch and it was decided to incorporate the disabled access into a project to provide an entrance more in keeping with its heritage. A lead covered canopy, cast iron structural posts, ornate railings and stone steps are part of a fine addition to this property.

Eastwell House – Social Housing Upgrade

Location: London SE1
Client: The London Borough of Southwark
Architect: Scanlans Consultant Surveyors LLP

Eastwell House is a 4 storey maisonette block in the Tabard Garden Estate in Southwark. The contract involved the renewal of kitchens, bathrooms and WC’s in 50 No. occupied flats. Additionally, complete new heating systems were installed and each flat was rewired. New lateral mains were also installed to the entire block.

Working in occupied units, especially when working with electrics, heating, kitchens and bathrooms, is a problem to both builders and tenants alike. The works were completed within the contract period to the delight of all concerned. This success was achieved through excellent site management and control, a first class tenant liaison officer and a swift building of trust between the contractor and the tenant.

Bournemouth Park School

Location: Southend
Client: Essex County Council

This modern kitchen, dining hall and gymnasium annex is a great example of how the use of contrasting styles and materials can combine to achieve the most aesthetically pleasing results.

Clay tiles and stainless steel roofing, face brickwork and Trespa panel elevations, Glulam beams with a mix of plastered and striped MDF ceilings. This annex is typical of the many contracts that Cityline are proud to commend to prospective clients.

Newmans Farm

Location: East Sussex
Client: Record Producer

This supremely luxurious project featured the construction of a private indoor swimming pool with steam room, gymnasium, games room, wine cellar and kitchen / utility room and out buildings for garages, stables and a ménage.

The sloping site made for an interesting construction with a waterproof reinforced concrete shell to house the swimming pool within a cut and fill excavation. The superstructure boasted a green oak frame, handmade facing bricks and peg roofing tiles and was joyfully brought together with fine expert craftsmanship.

Digby Greenways Estate

Location: Bethnal Green, E2
Client: London Borough of Tower Hamlets

These two five story maisonette blocks in the heart of London’s East End are typical of the properties that we work on for various local authorities in the London area. The scheme required improved access and security provisions for the tenants. A tower was built to each block providing a lift, lift lobby and rubbish chute facilities and was constructed using traditional methods and materials. The towers were enhanced externally by the unusual lead covered roof above four sided glazed plant room, with a large reconstituted stone cornice.

A new entry system, including secure entrance doors to each block and to each landing, together with new steel and mesh balustrades, have improved both the appearance and the security of these buildings.
